Reverse engineering

1. Product analysis and reconstruction:
Reverse engineering involves disassembling and closely analysing an existing product or system to understand its function, structure and design principles.

2. Creation of technical documentation:
Based on the findings, detailed technical documentation is prepared. This may include drawings, models or source code, as required.

3. Improvement or replication:
Once the product’s operation is understood, reverse engineering can be used to develop enhancements, fix defects or create a new version of the product—or an exact replica.

How it works

Disassembly and analysis of the product:
Our engineers start by breaking down the finished product (mechanical, electronic or software) into its constituent components. For mechanical devices, this means disassembly into parts; for electronics, examining the components; for software, decompilation or code analysis. This step also includes identifying how the parts interact and the purpose of each.

Mapping the design and functions:
Based on the analysis, we create detailed documentation, including technical drawings, 3D models or software diagrams. This process involves understanding the logic, principles and technologies used in the original design.

Applying the findings:
The information obtained is used for a range of purposes—repairing or improving the existing product, developing compatible parts or replicating the entire product. In some cases, reverse engineering is used to develop a competing product, optimise performance or remove defects.
